Backup, Restore & Migration
Create a portable encrypted backup and move or recover local Zyper data safely.
Zyper does not continuously upload your data or keep an automatic off-device backup. Use Settings → App → Backup & Restore before deleting wallets, replacing a computer, or making a risky local change.
Create a backup#
- Enter a password of at least eight characters.
- Click Export Backup.
- Save the
.zyper-backupfile somewhere separate from the computer you are protecting.
The archive is encrypted with AES-GCM using a key derived with Argon2id. Its password is never stored by Zyper and cannot be recovered.
The portable backup includes EVM, Solana, and Bitcoin wallets; accounts and authentication status; RPCs; proxies; tasks; whitelists; PnL configuration/backgrounds; and frontend settings and favorites.
It deliberately excludes the hardware-bound license, logs and caches, OpenSea login tokens, Flashbots identity, and Chromium browser profiles/sessions. Activate the destination device and reconnect any excluded sessions separately.
Restore or move devices#
Install Zyper on the destination, open Backup & Restore, enter the archive password, and click Restore Backup. Zyper first shows the archive creation time, source app version, and content counts.
Restore replaces the destination’s portable data. Before replacement, Zyper creates an encrypted rollback of the current state under the local restore-rollbacks folder, then closes so the restored stores can load on the next launch.
Portable backup is the supported migration method between Windows and macOS because it decrypts and repackages device-bound stores. Do not copy encrypted .dat files between machines; Windows DPAPI and the macOS Keychain master key are device-bound.
